2007 Deputation School
Deputation School included nine couples. Five of them were new to the program. Two couples were endorsed last February. Two couples were visiting in light of future prospects of becoming GIBM missionaries. One veteran missionary came to be refreshed. It was a very special time of blessing. Some of the missionaries stayed in homes of the members of Liberty Baptist Church. The Church provided meals for them every day at 5:00 pm. Five foreign fields were represented as well as church planters in the USA.
One special highlight of the week this year was a ladies tea, hosted by Mrs. Judy Lewis for all the missionary wives. It was a special time of sharing for the busy women who have been traveling and preparing for life beyond deputation. Another highlight to the program was the addition of two sessions for women only. Mrs. Chris Walters taught these two sessions. The subjects were "The Ministry of the Missionary Wife on Deputation," and "The Ministry of the Missionary Wife to Her Children".
Dr. Dick Webster, Dr. Kenneth Walters, Dr. Robert Lewis and Professor Kieth Hainline filled the hours with advice, suggestions and moral support for the missionaries facing deputation. They covered the areas of financing, relationships with the churches, culture shock, moral integrity and doctrinal purity. All who attended were enthusiastic about what they received in the three day venture.
