Minutes of the Global Independent Baptist Fellowship

February 21, 2006

The meeting was called to order by GIBF Chairman Pastor Kevin Folger at 2:19 P.M.

It was opened in prayer by Pastor Mario Monette

1] Minutes from the September 20, 2005 meeting were distributed.

A] A motion to approve the minutes was given by Pastor Dan Tidd

B] Pastor Dennis Fountain provided the second to the motion.

C] The vote was unanimous.

2] Pastor Rich Farinella gave the 2005 financial report for the Global Baptist Times. He told that the February 2006 issue of the paper was yet to be paid.

A] Pastor Charles Trull made a motion to receive the report

B] The second was provided by Pastor Mario Monette

C] It passed unanimously

Bro. Folger stated that the budget of the paper needs to be about $50,000 per year. That would be an increase of $18,000.

3] Pastor Farinella announced that he was stepping down as editor. He has enjoyed this position and considered it a privilege for the last 5 years. He is still behind the paper. He has been working to help Pastor Dan Lydick to become editor. He suggests that Pastor Lydick be ratified in September as the editor. He says the heart of both men, Pastor Farinella and Pastor Lydick, is to see the paper published by-monthly. Pastor Lydick will need help and resources will need to be increased.

Pastor Lydick passed out cards to get the paper. He told the men that if they support $25 or more a month they can get a bundle of papers delivered to their church. He desires to see subscriptions grow and wants the paper to be the glue and communication of the fellowship. He believes it can even be influential outside of the fellowship. He is quite honored by this possibility. He does not see the paper as being a "rag" sheet but addressing issues. He said that Pastor Farinella will stay on the board of review. He wants input! During the transition he instructed men to use the current Times address.

A verbal offering was received. Promises came in that totaled $3,300.

4] Pastor Webster gave a report on the GIBM office. He stated that 3 more missionaries would be introduced at this meeting. That brings the total up to 14 missionaries through the GIBF. The missions office runs about $500 in the hole monthly. Liberty Baptist Church is covering that amount right now. He would appreciate help on that. There was a lot of discussion on ways of promoting the GIBF outside of this group. The discussion was about questionnaires. The consensus was that if a missionary said they were through the GIBF it answers much about their doctrinal statement. At the September meeting the shortcoming of the GIBM office will be dealt with.

5] Pastor Jimmy Walker invited the pastors to the GIBF meeting in Ypsilanti , Michigan . It is about 45 minutes west of Detroit right off I-94. Brothers Davison, McCraken and Farinella will be preaching.

6] The February 2007 meeting will be held in San Diego at Pastor Larry Obero's church.

7] Bob Reno, who is a church planter, requested to license the Franklin Covey Training under the GIBF. It will benefit GIBF type schools. The license will give him the freedom to present the training at his cost.

A] The motion to accept this proposal was given by Pastor Frank Wood.

B] The second was provided by Pastor Rich Farniella.

C] The vote was unanimous.

8] Nominations for the GIBF officers were held. The only one nominated for chairman was Pastor Folger. It was motioned that all three officers serve another term. Pastor Dan Tidd moved that the nomination cease. Pastor Mario Monette gave the second. According to the by-laws the nominations will still be open through the May meeting.

The motion to close the meeting was provided by Pastor Mario Monette. The second was proposed by Pastor Larry Obero. It was unanimous.

Pastor Folger dismissed the meeting in prayer.

The meeting ended at 3:21 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Pastor Marshall P. Stevens

GIBF Secretary
