What a blessing it was to see and hear from the next generation at this year's meeting at Heartland Baptist Bible College. Brother Sam Davison and his staff did their usual outstanding job of hosting the meeting. God spoke to our hearts. We left challenged, blessed and refreshed.

Bro. Farinella gave a report on the Global Baptist Times. Copies were given out and an opportunity for questions was given. Bro. Farinella stressed the need for articles and pictures. Pastor Robert Stevens commented that this was a great paper and encouraged others to support it.

Bro. Webster was called on to hand out the proposed Operational Agreement for the GIBF. The need for this document was stated as follows:
1. To promote the purpose of the fellowship
2. To help missionaries
3. To show that the fellowship will never usurp the authority of the local church

The men were reminded that this document had been passed out several months ago, had been on the internet and some had been mailed out. If ratified, changes could be made in the future.

1] Pastor Frank Wood made the motion to ratify the Operational Agreement as handed out
2] Pastor Craig Houston gave the second to that motion.

The floor was opened for any questions. The following comments were given:

Pastor Dennis Fountain: This is a good document. It is practical and keeps the focus on the local church.

Pastor Ed Oster: His brother (who is a missionary using the GIBF) could not have done what he has accomplished so far without the help of the GIBF.

3] The vote was taken and the Operational Agreement was ratified unanimously.

Bro. Robert Lewis reported that he is still doing his missionary evangelist work. He is working with the GIBF but is not getting paid for his involvement. He doesn’t consider this a job but a responsibility.

The covenant resolution was handed out. The instruction was to go over it so that it could be ratified in September.

There would also be a proposed amendment to the articles of faith about human sexuality. It will be put before the fellowship in September.

Pastor Dan Thornton extended the invitation to the GIBF meeting he was hosting in September.

Pastor Kevin Folger publicly thanked Pastors Dan Lydick and Russ Tyree for their work on the documents.

The motion to close was presented by Pastor John Aldrich. The second came from Pastor Bill Rench.

Pastor Dave Lydick was asked to close the meeting in prayer at 3:14 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Pastor Marshall P. Stevens
GIBF Secretary
